Stigma-Free Morris County: Vaping and Marijuana Forum in the Mendhams
All About Vaping & the Impact of Marijuana on the Community
The Mendhams Stigma-Free Task Force will host a presentation, with a Q & A segment, entitled “Vaping & the Impact of Marijuana on the Community” on Thursday evening, Feb. 28, in Mendham Township.
The event will feature substance abuse navigators from the Daytop rehabilitation center and school, as well as local law enforcement officials. Registration is required. To register click here
Parents can learn about the harmful effects of vaping; how substances hijack the developing brain, and how to talk to your teens. Also, the presentation will look at marijuana and what has happened in Colorado, where the drug has been legalized, and how they are dealing with ensuring the continued health and wellness of their youth after legalization.

The goal of Mendham’s Stigma-Free Task Force is to foster a judgment-free environment around mental health issues and substance abuse and also to create inclusion for people with special needs, disabilities and any other “difference” that can make them feel marginalized, sidelined and not accepted. The Stigma-Free Task Force is striving to ensure that all individuals and families feel included and supported.
Daytop New Jersey has a long and successful history of meeting the needs of adolescents, adults and families struggling with the disease of addiction and its effects by providing a continuum of treatment services which include residential treatment for adolescents, outpatient treatment for adolescents and adults, recovery-based day school for students in grades 6-12, and a halfway house for adult women.
The Feb. 28 event will take place at 7 p.m. at the Mendham Township Library, which is located at 2 West Main St., Brookside, N.J. 07926.
The Morris County Stigma-Free Communities Initiative is a county-wide program which aims to eradicate the stigma associated with mental illness and substance use disorders. It is We are dedicated to raising awareness of these illnesses by creating an environment where affected individuals are supported in their efforts to achieve wellness and recovery.
